Is my Chatterbox a legacy software device?
On December 11, 2024, we began releasing a series of updates to multiple parts of our system in preparation for a larger release early 2025.
Unfortunately, this means that some Chatterboxes, depending on when they were made and shipped, to not have the latest audio QR code library used during the WiFi setup process and activation. For these devices we still have our older legacy setup process. During the setup process, your Chatterbox will be updates to our latest software.
What do you mean by legacy software?
Any Chatterbox that isn't running our latest software release is considered legacy software. The hardware is all the same.
Am I affected by this?
Please note that this only applies to brand-new devices, made and received prior to January 1st, 2025. If you have an active Chatterbox already set up and turned on overnight, it probably has been updated automatically. Just in case, press the yellow button and say "Check for updates" to make sure that your device is updated to our latest software release.
How do I update my already set up Chatterbox?
Press the yellow button and say "Check for updates" to make sure that your device is updated to our latest software release.
What if I updated my device?
Then you are good to go! All updated devices no longer have legacy software.
What can I do if I'm unsure?
If you are unsure of which version you have, the safest option is to manually update your SD card to the latest software. See: How to manually update SD card
